STEP 1 OF 7 · SECURE ACCOUNT SETUP

Create Your StudentAid.gov Account

Your StudentAid.gov account is your personal login and electronic signature for the federal student aid process.

If you already have an account, use that account—do not create another.

RACE can guide you, but we will never ask for your username, password, or security codes.

Secure StudentAid.gov account setup

Start on the Official StudentAid.gov Website

Create your account directly through the U.S. Department of Education. If you already have an account, sign in to that existing account instead. Keep this page open as a guide, but enter all personal and identifying information only on StudentAid.gov.

Before You Begin

• Use an email address that belongs only to you and that you can access long-term.

• Have your own mobile number available, if possible.

• Enter your legal name and date of birth exactly as requested.

• Enter Social Security or other identifying information only on StudentAid.gov—not on this RACE page.

Protect Your Account

• Your account credentials act as your legal electronic signature.

• Never share your username, password, or security codes with anyone—including family members or RACE.

• Each FAFSA contributor must create and use their own StudentAid.gov account.

• If you already have an account, recover access instead of creating a second one.

Need Help With Your Account?

Therese can help explain the account-creation process or direct you to official support resources. For your protection, RACE cannot create the account for you, log in on your behalf, or receive your username, password, security codes, or identifying information.

Return to the progress check and select “I Need Help” if you would like Therese to follow up.
